Just that last thought takes me way back to when I designed a crude clay chess set based on ISDF and Scion units, complete with scavenger, scrap pool and terrain board modifiers. I’ve never played tabletop version of Warhammer 40,000, but the thought of doing that BZ style is pretty tempting and I’m sure a few people here could relate to that. However, the desire of having the entire smorgasbord of BZ Universe units as physical models, in high res, is far too tempting to stop there. There is currently is a basic design Russian Czar on, which of course is better than nothing. I’ve only ever used AutoCAD and FreeCAD, the latter for basic parts design, and have no experience with model creation software used for games/ animation.

Just for the benefit of those who aren’t aware, STL is the file type needed for a 3D printer to understand how to 3D print :)įrom all the object model modification that I’ve seen over the years in Battlezone & BZ2 mods, I know it’s definitely possible to access them, but don’t know where to start searching or how to open them once found. On top of that, I’m currently doing undergrad engineering and recently began tinkering with 3D printer tech.Įnough about me though, I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to export into STL file format game 3D object models from say BZR98 and/or BZ2 (eg.

However, with 3D printing, something like this may be possible using a different approach. Like some of you, I’m a long time fan of the Battlezone series but quite new to this forum, so please be nice to a fellow gamer :)īrief history, back when I was younger I always wanted to build a Battlezone 2 themed plastic model kit, but unfortunately those never saw production.
